Eau de Gaga

by Jodi Lawler on

Now, I’m not one to gush about celebrity fragrances but the new Lady Gaga scent has me rather excited, and not only for the furore created by rumours that it would smell like ‘blood and semen’ – mm, yum.

Breaking her own embargo thanks to a certain He Who Shall Remain Nameless US magazine editor who leaked details of the perfume on Twitter, the lady herself posted her own photo of Lady Gaga Fame for her legion of Monsters to admire.

The perfume itself is a jet-black fluid (yep, you read that right – black) that, once airborne, transforms to a clear liquid on the skin to ‘deliver a true metamorphosis’.

And, as it’s Gaga, you just know this lady ain’t gonna do anything by halves: cue a ‘push-pull technology’ whereby ingredients interact in harmony with each other in place of the usual three-tiered hierarchy of notes in ‘traditional’ fragrances. Base notes? Shmase notes.

“And what might these ingredients be?” I hear you ask. Roll up “Tears of Belladonna, crushed heart of tiger orchidea, with a black veil of incense, pulverized apricot, and the combinative essences of saffron and honey drops.” In case you aren’t familiar with said ingredients, just to clarify, Gaga adds, 'It's black, like the soul of fame'. Oh, good.

Even the bottle screams Gaga, with an art deco-inspired lid that resembles some sort of gold claw. A simple, oval glass bottle must be the only low-key thing about the fragrance.

Fancy it?
